El idilio del ring
Inspired by mass-produced plastic luchador figurines, with their imperfect paint jobs and excess plastic molding, which are part of Mexican popular culture and the world of lucha libre, this work reinterprets these everyday objects through paper. Starting with a luchador that I cut and assembled from paper, I digitally explored variations in color and floral motifs to create a rhythmic pattern that evokes the repetitive designs found in Indigenous Mexican textiles.
In this composition, the luchadores appear to take part in a synchronized dance, where movement, color, and flowers create a sense of harmony and playfulness. Two masked characters meet, accompany one another, and dance together, leaving open the possibility of a romance between them, or simply a sense of friendship and complicity.
