Dino Birds
Winter 2026 | National Audubon Society

Photography by: Lauren Pussateri

For the Winter 2026 edition of National Audubon Society magazine, I created a series of hand-cut paper illustrations exploring ancient birds that lived during the age of dinosaurs.

The feature included one full spread highlighting Archaeopteryx, along with four additional pages showcasing a range of prehistoric avian species. Each bird was cut from paper, and then photographed to preserve texture, depth, and shadow.

To help contextualize these ancient species, I also created five spot illustrations pairing each prehistoric bird with its closest modern-day equivalent.

In addition to the print work, I created, subtle stop-motion animations for each bird, which were featured in the digital version of the magazine.
