Sigue la Corriente (Follow the Current)
KC Current × Andrea Cira | Hispanic Heritage Month Artist Series
Created in collaboration with Kansas City Current for Hispanic Heritage Month, Sigue la Corriente (Follow the Current) celebrates the intersection of Mexican cultural heritage, soccer, and community.
At the heart of the design is Quetzalcóatl, the feathered serpent of Mesoamerican tradition, reimagined holding a soccer ball. Surrounded by a cactus and wildflowers inspired by the Kansas City landscape, the composition brings together cultural symbols from Mexico and the place I now call home.
Drawing from the vibrant colors, intricate forms, and visual language of Mexican folk art, the design celebrates the ways culture evolves, travels, and takes root in new places. Created for a special KC Current merchandise collection, the collaboration honors the power of soccer to bring people together across cultures and generations.
Sigue la Corriente is an invitation to embrace our roots, celebrate where we are, and keep moving forward together.
